I have included a broad spectrum of monsters on this page as examples for area writers to look to for reference. Enjoy the examples and remember... A well written description can really make or break a monster!

The long white fur of the fluffy little kitten is soft to the
touch. It continues to play energetically in the corner of
the room, oblivious to your scrutiny. After several minutes
the tiny green eyes turn toward you and the rambunctious
little ball of fur catapults toward his new toy! You can
scarce resist the temptation to let the kitten swat at your
hand where it dangles within reach. After all, it doesn't
hurt _that_ much, now does it?

Sir Celfivl Prantroc is a valiant paladin renowned world-wide for
his honor and brutal efficiency in battle. He stands rather short
by normal standards, but he has the broad shoulders of a blacksmith
and he walks with the confident stride of an experienced warrior.
Gleaming silver plate mail is draped around his stocky body, but his
fine armor has been battered and rent by claws and his flowing
scarlet cape has been singed at the edges. He strides among his
foes swinging a huge axe with infamously deadly accuracy.

This little drake must have hatched very recently. It still must
grow for weeks to assume the deadly grace of its elders. It will
be several days before its wing muscles are even strong enough to
support it in flight. Although it is still barely more than a
hatchling it could still bite off a good chunk of an arm or a leg
if anyone was unwary enough to let it get so close.

the mighty red dragon, Antitheton~
Antitheton bellows his implacable rage at your foolish intrusion!
~
Nearly 70 feet long, Antitheton is one of the most lethal creatures
alive. Indeed, there are few even among his own kind that would dare
to challenge him. Muscles ripple and bunch under his scaly red hide
when he moves his immense body to see what foolish men dare to intrude
upon his secret, volcanic lair. Millions of small, iron-hard scales
cover his impenetrable hide so smoothly that he appears silky in the
subdued light. Gold and jewels of immeasurable worth clink together
between his black, serrated claws each time he shifts his massive,
serpentine bulk. Antitheton's eyes, fathomless pools of cold black
death, smolder as he reluctantly leaves his vast horde of ill-gotten
treasure. Antitheton lunges, intent only on your utter annihilation!
